Chemo Round 10 - Postponed

Hi all-  Just wanted to let everyone know Ashlynn did not get any chemo on Friday.  Here blood counts were too low when the VNA came on Wednesday.  Her team of doctors think her counts will come up on their own.  The plan is to redo the blood work on Tuesday, and then get chemo on Wednesday.  We will be staying overnight, and home on Thursday!  We are enjoying a little break this weekend, and we will get back to it next week.

Finger Paint

Since Ashlynn hasn't been able to go to daycare, we have been trying to do some fun, stimulating projects at home.  Friday we decided to do some finger painting.  I knew Ashlynn was going to get dirty, so planned to paint and then take a bath.  However, I had no idea really how dirty she could really get.  She seemed enjoy painting for awhile, and then she was over it!  I think our next project might be a little less messy!

John Deere Party

We finally were able to have Ashlynn's brithday party, better late then never!  We were very lucky to have great weather, and some great company.  Ashlynn is one loved little girl.  She has been really into tractors, barns, and anything farm lately.  We decided a John Deere party would be perfect for her.  I had some fun decorating for the party, and lots of people brought food to share.  Ashlynn had a great time playing with all of her friends.  She hasn't been able to spend much time with other kids lately, so it was very fun to watch her play.  Ashlynn's Grammy made her a beautiful cake, well actually two cakes, so she would have one to eat.   It was really nice to be able to catch up with friends and family that we haven't gotten to spend time with lately.

Uncle Chris gave Ashlynn a little treat at the end of the night, maybe this is why she slept for over 13 hours, or maybe she just had so much fun at her party that she was tired out!

Chemo Round 9

We headed up to DHMC on Friday for Ashlynn's 9th Chemo treatment.   On the drive up to DHMC I stopped at the rest stop to stretch out a little bit.  The view from up there is very pretty.  I think it will be a very nice drive when all of the leaves are changing.  Hopefully it will make the 2 hour drive seem a little shorter!  While we were waiting for Ashlynn's chemo to get delivered from the lab Ashlynn went through all of her favorite toys in the play room.  She started with the play kitchen, then some dinosaurs, next was the drum, then we played with bubbles, and the train table.  Eva took some pictures of us playing this week.

We were very happy everything went as expected this week!  Ashlynn was back to her wild self this week.  Dr. Kim could tell that her blood counts were in the normal range even before her blood work came back.  She was so confident about this that she didn't even make us wait around to get the results back from the lab.  We were very happy about this because we had a lot of things to do!  Ashlynn's birthday party was planned for the next day, and I had some backing and lots of cleaning to get done.  We are looking forward to getting our last overnight trip done next week.

A Day on the Farm

On Sunday Garrett's brother Jordan brought over some piece of equipment he had rented to do some yard work.  He had a few hours left on the rental, so him and Garrett decided it would be a good idea to start some landscaping at our house.  It was a good idea, but there wasn't enough time to really finish the job.  Now we have about half of the over grown brush cleared off the hill, and a nice mud pit that the dogs cannot resist.  AWESOME- I really love swamp dogs.

While the yard work was going on Shayne decided it would be a good idea to play outside.  After playing for awhile Grammy showed up, and we decided to visit with the goats.  Both Shayne and Ashlynn really think the goats are a lot of fun!  Ashlynn likes to ride on the goats and snuggle with them too.  I think we might have this years Christmas card picture.  After all the playing with the goats we were sure to give Ashlynn a nice soapy bath to wash off all the germs.
