Chemo Round 7: A Tough Weekend

This weekend Ashlynn had her 7th round of chemo.  Nana had the day off from work so she came up for the day to keep is company.  This was one of her bigger treatments, and we planned to stay overnight.  When we go to DHMC we started out day in the clinic.  When we got there they accesses Ashlynn’s port and sent her blood to he lab.  All of her counts came back in the normal range.  We played for a short time in the playroom, while we waited for Ashlynn to produce a urine sample.  This is not a fun process for someone who is still in diapers.  The first attempt at this was a FAIL- but the second time worked!!!  I had never been so excited about pee!  After the pee was sent to the lab, we were sent up to our room.  We were in 532, the same room we stayed in a few weeks ago.  Ashlynn was excited that she got a really cool Penguin book to bring home with us.  Every visit she either gets a book, or a stuffed animal.  We really enjoy reading the books together.

This treatment seemed to hit Ashlynn a little harder that the others.  She was also getting a couple molars, so that didn’t make anything better.  Ashlynn seemed to be a little nauseous after she received her chemo.  She slept on and off for the afternoon and evening.  We were able to get discharged Saturday morning and headed for home.

Once we were home we laid low.  Ashlynn felt pretty yucky Saturday and Sunday, but by Monday she was back to her cheerful self.

We are all VERY happy we only have one more treatment when she will need to stay over night!  She will have this in 3 weeks (Round 10).  Thank you to everyone for your continued support!  We appreciate all of the meals, gas cards, and prayers for Ashlynn!!!

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!
