Chemo Session 2 - Round 3

Just like last week, Chemo was supposed to be a short visit.  Unfortunately things do no always go as planned....  Going into this treatment I had a feeling Ashlynn was going to need a blood transfusion.  Thursday she was looking a little pale, and was not quite acting like herself.  Once we got to the hospital her blood was drawn and sent to the lab.  Her blood work did confirm that her white blood cells were down.  Not the lowest they have ever been, but within the limit of needing a transfusion.  The blood transfusion took about 3 hours.  This is a little longer than normal, but since she also had a slight fever the nurses didn't want to rush the transfusion.  Since Ash was under the weather she just wanted to chill out and watch a movie.  She was really happy to watch Madagascar and snuggle with her new lion.  She got the lion from a donation from Kohl's Cares.  As soon as she got it she had to give it loves!  Since Ashlynn was so sleepy I was REALLY glad I brought my computer.  I was able to work almost the whole day.  Ashlynn napped, and vegged on and off for most of the day.  It's amazing how quickly some fresh blood can make you start feeling better, by the end of the 3 hours Ashlynn already had some color back in her cheeks and was a little happier.  By Saturday morning Ashlynn's fever was gone, and she was feeling a whole lot better.  She still has a little cold, but we have been really lucky that really that's all we have had to deal with so far.  (I really shouldn't write that- Hoping I'm not jinxing us!)

I also want to send a HUGE Thank you to all of my Auntie June's friends in Houston, TX who helped her celebrate her 50th Birthday last week, and showered Ashlynn with donations to help out with her medical expenses.  We are truly touched by all of these kind people!!!

Ashlynn pre transfusion- pale and not looking so hot, although Vampire seem to be 'in' this year!

Loves for her Lion
