Last Tuesday morning I let Roxy and Remi outside as I do every morning before work. Ashlynn was in the house, and took a tumble. I turned around to make sure she was ok, and when I came back out to the porch and the dogs were gone. I spent the next few hours looking for the dogs. They have gone out of the yard a few times since we moved to Deerfield, but never longer than a hour. Garrett came home at lunch time to help look for them. At that point they had been gone for several hours. I called the Animal Patrol thinking they might have gotten a call for them, but nothing yet. I also got in touch with Granite State Dog Recovery (they are a volunteer agency that help locate lost dogs, they are amazing!) We talked to several of our neighbors to let them know the dogs were missing. Tuesday night came around and still no dogs! Wednesday I started calling local vets and shelters, and had 100 flyers made up. Wednesday after work we hung flyers in the rain, still no dogs. Thursday afternoon Danica helped me hang the rest of the flyers, and still no dogs. Thursday afternoon I saw a car coming down the driveway that I didn't recognize, and thankfully it was the Animal Patrol Officer with our dogs. I was so happy, the poor man must think I'm a little looney, I gave him a big hug and was crying. The dogs were found a mile and a half up the road. Remi was in good shape, and Roxy had gotten into a porcupine. I'm guessing they were on their way home, and then Roxy got hurt. What we would give to know what they were really up to during the 2 and a half days they were missing!
Thank you to everyone who helped locate the dogs, and helped get the word out! A special thanks to Dee (Remi's breeder Mommy) and Kim who helped get the word out to lots of people!
Happy to be home!
