3 Month Post Chemo Scans & Gifts for CHaD!

It's amazing how quickly time has gone by lately.  I can't believe it has been 3 months since Ashlynn's last chemo treatment (actually closer to 4 months, because I am slacking with getting things posted on the blog).  On September 21st we made the trip back to Darthmouth-Hitchcock to have all of Ashlynn's scans redone to make sure there is no cancer reoccurrence anywhere in her body.  According to Ashlynn's Doctors, and all the research it is very likely that any cancer will return, but it's always good to keep a close eye on this type of stuff.  For us this means redoing the scans every 3 months for the first year, and then the frequency will taper off as more time passes with out any concerns.  Ashlynn was really excited to see her team of providers.  It says a lot about the Oncology Team when the children don't hate going there, and actually miss the people when they are done treatment.  They have really been a part of our family for the past year, so naturally she would miss them.  Everyone was amazed to see how much hair Ashlynn has grown, how much taller she is, and how much she is talking!

While we were visiting we were able to deliver all of the gifts, gift cards, and donations we collected from Ashlynn's birthday party.  I was amazed at how generous everyone was.  We (as in all of you) donated over $200, $75 in gift cards, and over a wagon full of toys!  It was wonderful to be able to be on the giving end for a change.  I know first hand how much a little gift can turn a bad day around for a child who is having a rough treatment.  Ashlynn was given gifts on some of her toughest day, and it made all the difference to her!  I know these gifts will bring joy to the children who need them, and we are so grateful that everyone was willing to help us with this donation!  Thank You All!!!

After Ashlynn's visit with her Oncology Team we made our way upstairs to Pain Free to get her scans started.  Pain Free was running behind so we had some time to play while we waited.  The nurses gave Ashlynn some foam stickers to decorate her gas mask, but Ashlynn decided she would rather decorate her pants for some reason.  She really got into it, and covered every last inch of her pants with stickers! Everything went great with her scans.  Ashlynn is such a trooper, she went to sleep nicely, and woke up in a great mood.  She even wanted to stop for some spaghetti on the way home.  About half way home we got a call with the good news.  All of Ashlynn's scans looked great!  She is officially Cancer Free still, and we go back in 3 months!
