Ashlynn's Chemo schedule was a little messed up this week, since she did not get chemo the week before. This week we went for chemo on Wednesday morning, and left Thursday. We were really looking forward to this being the last of the 'tough treatments' and also the last planned overnight! Well we almost made it to the end..... The treatment protocol for Ashlynn's got changed just 2 days before we finished the overnight treatments. There were too many reoccurrence for those kids who started treatment as high risk. Ashlynn started treatment as lowest risk category, but once protocol changes, it changes for everyone. The only change to the protocol is those overnights that we were so excited to be done with are not done. We now have to do an overnight every 3 weeks for the rest of her treatment, that is about 36 weeks left. This is a huge bummer, but we trust that her doctors are doing this for the right reasons. If this means that she has a better chance of never having to deal with the big "C" word ever again than it is fine by us. Just another bump in the road, more like a speed bump, because at least things haven't changed because Ashlynn's condition has changed. After we finish her treatment she will have an even smaller chance of reoccurrence.
Back to this weeks treatment. Ashlynn was kinda agitated going into treatment this week. I think she could sense the extra stress in the room, I was quite upset after finding out about the protocol changes. It took Ashlynn a little bit to get back to her crazy self, but she pulled herself together. She was VERY active, and I think we played with just about every single toy in the playroom. After all the toys were boring to her we went back to her room to try to nap, that didn't go as planned so we played with Nana's iPad. Nana had a new app called 'Wheels on the Bus' Ashlynn had a great time playing with that. It kept her busy for at least an hour, in baby time that's like an eternity! After that we got moved upstairs to spend the night. By this point Ashlynn wasn't feeling great so we just hung out in our room. She napped for a little while, and after some anti nausea meds she was feeling well enough to eat some dinner, and of course some Oreos. After dinner we went to bed nice and early! The next morning Ashlynn wasn't feeling so hot so we had to hang out for a bit longer than normal to get an extra dose of anti nausea meds before we hit the road. I think we are both really happy to get home after these overnights!
Ashlynn was so sad I wouldn't let her choke on the little toys...

Well I think I've learned after this last minute
protocol change that there will be no more count downs. We will just try to have as much fun as we can all the time, and soon enough treatment will be over. For now we will enjoy our few weeks off from treatment!
